EJP joins unified call to launch diplomatic humanitarian convoy to Gaza

European Jews for Palestine Joins Global Call to End the Manufactured Famine in Gaza

European Jews for Palestine (EJP) stands in solidarity with Palestinian civil society and humanitarian organizations worldwide in issuing an urgent and unified call to halt the manufactured famine in Gaza. The international community must act decisively, immediately, and with full moral and legal responsibility to address this humanitarian crisis.

European Jews for Palestine (EJP) is signatory number 551 among (as of May 18th, 16:40 GMT) 761 organizations worldwide calling for urgent action to end the manufactured famine in Gaza. This milestone underscores our commitment to standing in solidarity with Palestinian civil society and demanding immediate intervention from the international community.

We are witnessing a grave violation of human rights as over two million Palestinians in Gaza face deliberate starvation as a method of warfare. Since March 2, 2025, Israel has imposed a total blockade on humanitarian supplies and life-saving assistance, resulting in the longest siege Gaza has ever experienced. Reports from UNICEF and OCHA highlight the catastrophic conditions: farmland has been destroyed, fishing waters are inaccessible, and essential food sources are dwindling. Children are going to bed hungry, with 92% of children under two and breastfeeding mothers lacking adequate nutrition. Hospitals are overwhelmed, and the situation is dire.

The Palestinian NGO Network has declared that Gaza has entered an advanced stage of famine, and the State of Palestine has officially designated the Gaza Strip as a famine zone, calling for urgent international intervention. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) indicates that the entire population of Gaza is experiencing acute food insecurity, with half a million people facing starvation. Immediate action is imperative to prevent further loss of life.

Despite the availability of over 3,000 aid trucks and 116,000 metric tonnes of food ready to enter Gaza, these resources remain obstructed by Israel, in violation of international law. The UN Secretary-General António Guterres has emphasized that aid is non-negotiable and must be restored immediately.

In response to this humanitarian crisis, EJP calls for the immediate organization and deployment of a Diplomatic Humanitarian Convoy to Gaza through the Rafah Crossing. We urge all states to publicly commit to joining this convoy by dispatching official diplomatic missions to accompany the aid trucks into Gaza. This action is grounded in legal obligations, moral courage, and human solidarity.

We demand the following:

  1. All states must commit to joining the humanitarian convoy and reject the weaponisation of aid.
  2. Coordination with the United Nations and the Government of Egypt is essential to facilitate the convoy’s entry and ensure the safe passage of humanitarian aid and relief workers.
  3. Individual diplomats and parliamentarians from complicit governments should join the convoy in their personal capacities.
  4. International media outlets must accompany the convoy to document the famine and expose the blockade.
  5. Global civil society, including NGOs and solidarity networks, must mobilize to pressure governments to support the convoy.
  6. The United Nations must urgently complete assessments to declare Gaza a famine zone and actively facilitate the Diplomatic Humanitarian Convoy.

This is a human imperative. A Diplomatic Humanitarian Convoy would mark a historic step to break the siege, end the starvation, and affirm the world’s rejection of hunger as a weapon of war.

Inaction will lead to mass death by starvation and undermine the international legal system. We call on the global community to:

Let Gaza Live. End the Starvation. End the Siege. Open the Crossings. Launch the Diplomatic Humanitarian Convoy – NOW.
